Roger William Courtland, 78, of Ludington, MI, passed away peacefully April 10, 2026, surrounded by all of his children who love him dearly. Roger was born March 6, 1948 in Scottville, Mi. Growing up on the family farm, Roger worked hard and came to love the outdoors. Following high school, he served as State Treasurer for the FFA (Future Farmers of America) at Michigan State University. In 1969, Roger married Susan (Lange) Mann, with whom he happily had two children. Later, in 1983, Roger married his lifelong love, Diane (Cross) Courtland, also welcoming a son. Roger moved to Montague, MI, and he worked in Farm Equipment Sales at West Michigan Power and Equipment in New Era. Later, he began work at Michcon Gas Company, now DTE Energy, where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 2003. Throughout his adult life, he also operated his own farm with the help of his family. He worked incredibly hard to support his family while still making time to be the best Dad ever to the children he made his world. Following retirement, Roger enjoyed travel with his wife, snow-birding in Mississippi, camping, fishing, and above all, time with his children and grandchildren. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Courtland, and wife, Diane Courtland. He is survived by his sister, Kris (Kevin) Courtland-Willick, his children, Jay Courtland, Kellie (Brad) Courtland-Mooney and Todd (Jennifer) Courtland, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be announced at a future date. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48507. www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
