Ronald George Strickland, age 84, passed away at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, Michigan on April 10, 2026. According to his wishes, he will be cremated. A committal service will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

Ronald was born on May 29, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Evelyn (Spence) Strickland. He graduated from Schaffer High School in Southgate and proudly served his country as a ‘Sea Bee’ in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

A lifelong Michigan native, Ronald lived Downriver following his honorable discharge from the military and worked in the family business, Strickland Metal Products, which he later ran after the retirement of the elder Mr. Strickland. After his own retirement from the business He spent nine years living in Florida before returning to Michigan and settling Downriver and in Flushing to be near his son in 2014.

Ron had a deep love for boats of all kinds and was a longtime member and former commodore of the Seaway Boat Club in Wyandotte.

He is survived by his two children, David Strickland and Amy Strickland (Tim) Ford; grandchildren, Brystal, Trevor, and Autumn; great grandsons, Camden, Hudson, and Milo; his sister, Sandra Strickland Wilson; and his former wife Janet Milliman.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
