WOOD, Ronald Edward - Age 81, of Swartz Creek, died peacefully surrounded by his family on July 18, 2019. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, July 22, 2019 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Sunday from 1-4 and 6-8 and at church Monday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. A 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7PM Sunday at the funeral home, followed by a 4th Degree Chalice service. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Ronald was born July 4, 1938 in Pontiac, IL, the son of Leo and Jeanetta (Rosenberger) Wood. He married Monica Marie Yuhas May 30, 1970 in Wedron, IL. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Air Policeman. He retired in 2001 from GM after 37 years as a receiving clerk. Ronald also had been employed as a police officer in Pontiac, IL. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree #6694 and 4th Degree Assembly Council #2211. He appreciated classic cars. He loved spending time with his family and Sadie.
Surviving are: his wife of 49 years, Monica; daughter, Theresa Wood of Swartz Creek; son, Michael (Amy) Wood of Rochester Hills; grandson, Lucas James Wood; brother, Leo Wood of Urbana, IL; sister, Donna (Jim) Lynch of Streator, IL; sister-in-law, Elaine Wood of Streator, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Wood; and brother, Richard Wood. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
