Rose Sylvia Monahan

MONAHAN, Rose - 81 of Fenton, entered into eternal rest  on December 15, 2023. She was a beloved wife of Frederick J. Monahan. In addition to her husband, Rose was the proud mother of Colleen Monahan (Bruce), Marian Shafer, and Richard Monahan (Kelly), Nana to 6 grandchildren, Brian, Benjamin, Margaret, Liam, Logan and Violet. Beloved sister to Josie Vella (Joe), Carmen D’Agostino (Larry), Sylvia Sauser (Ken), Joe Cutajar (Doris), Vincent Cutajar (Ana), Paol Cutajar (Rita), AnnMarie Springer (Frank), Catherine Locricchio (John) and many beloved nieces and nephews. Devoted sister in faith to Barb, Deanna, and Rosalie among other cherished friends.  

Rose was born February 7, 1942 in Tarxien. Malta, the daughter of Charles and Maria (Farrugia) Cutajar. She came to the United States in 1950. She graduated from St. Vincent DePaul High School in Detroit, Michigan. She entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary convent in Monroe, Michigan. She received her teaching degree from Marygrove College. After leaving the convent, she taught for many years before marrying Fred on September 17th, 1971. She dedicated her life to her three children, husband and grandchildren.

Rose was known for her welcoming smile and twinkling eyes. She radiated the love she had for her family and friends. They meant the world to her. She was devoted to her faith and her family, active at her church, St, John the Evangelist, where she was  beloved by many. She described Jesus as her best friend and we are comforted that she is now in his loving embrace. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Robert Copeland Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday and 2-8 PM Thursday, with a Rosary at 7PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10AM until the time of Mass Friday at church. Those desiring may make contributions to the family c/o Sharp Funeral Homes.
