BALL, Ruth Ann -- Age 94 of Flint and formerly of Lennon, died December 19, 2014 at Willowbrook Manor. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday December 22, 2014, at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2PM - 6 PM Sunday and 9 AM until time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the charity of one's choice. Ruth was born November 22, 1920 in Galt, Ontario Canada the daughter of William Lynes and Margaret Baldwin Spencer Drury Fields. Ruth came to Michigan from Canada at age 2 with her family and lived on Lincoln Ave. in Flint. She became a U.S. citizen at age 23. She married Bruce O. Ball in Flint on November 30, 1940, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before he died on April 28, 2006. Ruth was a member of the Daily Bread and she attended the Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, reading, crossword puzzles, sewing and cross stitch. Surviving are: children, Jesse (Rosemary) Ball of Durand, Jean (George) Mawdsley of Flushing, Elaine (Cecil) Schott of Flushing ; grandchildren, Jason (Brandi) Ball, Leslie (Francisco) Rivas-Lopez, Jeremey Ball, Sarah (Eric) Leather, Melanie Schott; great grandchildren, Erik and Kevin Rivas-Lopez; sister, Elizabeth Sweet of TN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce in 2006; son Bruce, 1986; also preceded in death by baby brother, Billy Fields; sisters, Dorothy Keely and Helen Fell. Ruth leaves behind many friends at Willowbrook Manor, especially her dear room mate, Wiliphine (Sunshine) Brown. Also good friend, Jacob Schoch from Genesee Gardens where she lived 3 years. Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Willowbrook for their loving care of Ruth during her 5 years there, and the staff of Heartland Hospice Care during the last 4 months.
