Sally Mae Fisher, of Swartz Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by loved ones at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint.
Sally grew up in Byron, Michigan, and was a proud graduate of the Education program at Michigan State University. She dedicated much of her career to teaching at Atherton High School, where she inspired generations of students as a Physical Education and History teacher. Sally also coached several girls’ varsity teams, leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes. As a coach and mentor, she modeled hard work, sportsmanship, and grace, and her encouragement helped shape many lives both on and off the field. Sally lived an active and adventurous life. She was an avid birder and loved traveling the world with her sisters, Nancy and Judy, on many memorable birding adventures. Sally also had a passion for RV travel—no matter where the road led, she found joy in discovery and the beauty of new places. Sally was a kind, compassionate, and thoughtful person who brought warmth to everyone she met. She also had a tremendous sense of humor and a special gift for making others laugh, leaving many cherished memories with family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her partner, Marcia Peterson; her nieces and nephews, Christie (Kenny) Stoops, Cindy Johnson, Cathy (Derald) Cramner, Connie (Joe) Barta, Carrie (Dave) Conner, Joe (Suzette) Snook, Kimberly Snook; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews. Sally also leaves behind her beloved Maltese mix, Emma, who brought her great companionship and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Lelah Mae Fisher, and her sisters, Nancy Jackson and Judy Snook.
In keeping with Sally’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held at this time. Sally embraced life fully and hoped it would be remembered with celebration and gratitude. A family gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Animal Control Animal Sanctuary. Sally will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473. www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
