Sandra Jo Townsend

Sandra Jo Townsend, age 80, of Grand Blanc, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. A funeral ceremony will take place 11:00 AM, Monday, June 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc, 6106 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Reverend Raleigh F. Adams will preside. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 1 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Monday at the church. Following her services, Sandy will be taken to Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico for burial next to her beloved husband, Rod. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sandy was born on February 27, 1945 in Belleville, IL the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Juracek) Placek. She graduated from Valley High School, class of 1963. Sandy and Rodney Townsend were united in marriage on May 20, 1967 in Albuquerque, NM. Sadly, he preceded her in death in 2002. Sandy was a proud wife and mother, tending to her family and home. Later in life she was the owner and operator of The Card Shop. She was devoted to her faith and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc, volunteering and serving as a greeter for many years. Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and her lights of her life her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Trenton (Alexa Wheeler) Townsend and Jesse (Jen) Townsend; nine grandchildren, Katya Townsend, Camille Townsend, Sebastian Townsend, Cole Townsend, Maia Townsend, Layton Townsend, Owen Townsend, Sara Wheeler, Sky Townsend; and beloved cousins, Shelley Crotty, Scott Switzer, Steve Switzer and Carolyn Switzer.
