Scott Joseph McCann

McCANN, Scott Joseph -- Age 56, of Fenton and Green Valley AZ, died May 25, 2013 in Arizona. Services will be held 3 PM Sunday, June 9 2013 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint, Fr. Gary McInnis officiating. Visitation will be 1-3 PM Sunday, June 9. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Eastern Michigan Food Bank or Genesee County Humane Society. Scott was born April 6, 1957 in Flint, the son of John and GayAnn (Drouin) McCann. He married Ruthann Dodde in 1996. He was raised in Flint and was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. In Junior High, Scott broke the weight lifting squat lift record at Longfellow and held it for 12 years. He was a graduate of University of Michigan and Cooley Law School. He practiced law in Flint and was a member of the Bar Association. He was a past member of the Hibernians and a member of the Arrowhead Pipe Club. He also wrote a thesis on the Sit Downers which is in the archives of U o f M. Scott earned a teaching degree and taught for a short time in the Beecher School district. He enjoyed cooking and golfing, and loved his dogs. Surviving are; wife, Ruthann; parents, John and GayAnn; mother-in-law, Geneva Dodde; brothers, Kevin (Jennifer) McCann, Matt (Christine) McCann, Mitchell (Lisa) McCann, Michael (Lori) McCann; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and special friend Dan Spaniola.
