MAXWELL, Sharon “Sherry” Lynne, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. After a life of caring for others, Sherry passed away in loving care in her home on June 13, 2026, the place where she felt most at peace and where she had hoped to spend her final days.

Sherry was born on June 20, 1940, to Lynn George and Ruth Grace (Blye) Packard. She graduated from Dansville High School in 1957 and earned her degree from Michigan State University. After finishing her education, she spent 30 years working at The State Bank in Fenton, Michigan, where she later retired.

One fateful day at Island Lake, Sherry met the man who would become her husband. On September 29th, 1961, she married Samuel “Kenneth” Maxwell, and together they shared 64 years of marriage building a life and raising five children. Her true happiness and joy came from her beautiful family. Their wedding song, “Only You” by The Platters, remained a lasting reflection of their love and marriage.

Sherry was very active in the Zonta Club of Fenton for many years and served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the American Legion. In her free time, she was a dedicated scrapbooker, creating decades worth of scrapbooks that preserved her family’s memories. Sherry was an animal lover and avid reader who especially loved sharing that joy with her grandchildren. She loved bringing her family together, and her homemade egg-noodles and Red Cake became a treasured family tradition. A comfort food that will forever remind her loved ones of the strong, loving matriarch who was the heart of the family.

Sherry will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, humor, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her memory is the greatest blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Ruth Packard, and her son-in-law, Mark “Bass” Smith.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Ken and her children, Randy Maxwell (Janet), Dawn McGinnis, Shawn Maxwell (Andrea), Scott Maxwell (Wendy), and Bonnie Abbott. She was a loving grandmother to Jesse, Cassie, Laura (William), Lyndsey (Darien), Michelle, Anthony, Lake, Maddie Sue, Lucas, Annabella, Madeline, Olivia, and Elizabeth, and a proud great-grandmother to Emery, Arwen, Frankie, and Boomer.

A private graveside service will be held. Those desiring may make contributions to Adopt-A-Pet, 13575 Fenton Rd. Fenton MI 48430.
