Shirley Irene Hall, formerly of Flint, Michigan went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 16, 2025. Shirley was born in Flint to parents Henry and Virgie Ormiston and was a graduate of Dye High School. She married the love of her life, Douglas Hall, on 10 January, 1953. Shirley worked at several jobs throughout her life, to include serving as the senior food service manager for elementary and high schools in the Flint area and at a recreational summer camp. Her most important role was as a loving and caring wife and mother, personifying the virtuous wife as described in Proverbs 31: “Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.” Shirley is survived by her son Stan (Cathy), daughter Amy (Calvin) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Douglas, their son Steve, and their daughter Paula Hemgesberg (James). Funeral services will be held on Monday, 9 June at Sharps Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan 48473. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM; the funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM led by Shirley’s son-in-law James Hemgesberg.
