HOOVER, Shirley Elaine- Age 77, of Grand Blanc, died January 6, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday January 13 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will take place Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Shirley was born October 28, 1939 in Boalsburg, PA, the daughter of Lee and Helen (Smith) Homan. She married James K. Hoover on May 10, 1958 in Boalsburg, PA. She was employed by Hank Graff Chevrolet as a secretary and retired after fifteen years of service in 2001. Shirley loved beading and jewelry. She was known for her cookies. She had the ability to make anything grow and loved gardening. Shirley loved camping, square dancing, and winters in Florida. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Florida. Above all, she loved her grandchildren immensely. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James; children, Michael (Debra) Hoover of Millington, Charlene (Michael) Rock of Clarkston, Edward (Judy) Hoover of Lapeer; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Homan. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
