Shirley Taipalus

TAIPALUS, Shirley Marion - Age 90 of Flint, died Friday, December 1, 2017. Funeral services will be held 4PM, Monday, December 4, 2017, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held 4PM-8PM Sunday and 2PM until time of service Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the building fund of First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek. Shirley was born November 29, 1927 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Gauthier) Curnow. She married Theodore Taipalus on February 25, 1949 and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2010. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church, Swartz Creek. She enjoyed church and singing with the Choralers together with her husband. She loved to play the piano at church an local nursing homes and enjoyed to knit, roller and ice skating, canning and the outdoors. Surviving are: children, Debra (Mark) Carlyle of Flint, Timothy (Tamara) Taipalus of Flint, Randy Taipalus of Flint, Edward Taipalus of IN; grandchildren, Carrie, Jason, Adreana, Monica, Kendall, Meghan, Hailey, Brandy, Kellie, Jon; great grandchildren, Brianna, Hunter, Alysia, Ellis, Afton, Greggy and Elam. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Shannon. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
