Shizuko Burns

BURNS, Shizuko - Age 86, of Flushing, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Cranberry Park, Clio. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 18, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with burial to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM Friday. Those desiring may direct contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society. 

Shizuko was born on November 1, 1936 in Aomori, Japan the daughter of Masayuki and Ei Tsushima. She worked for GM Buick for many years before her retirement. Shizuko and Charles Burns were united in marriage on August 18, 1961 in Japan. She loved spending time with the family and most importantly her grandson, Robert. She was a strong woman who enjoyed her time doing yard work and gardening.  

She is survived by her son, Robert (Christina) Burns; grandson, Robert C. Burns; special niece, Chiaki Tsushima; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Shizuko was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents, and siblings, Shoichi, Nobuyuki, Kouji, and Shigeko Tsushima.
