Sigmond Robert "Bob" KATZ

KATZ, Sigmond Robert "Bob" - Age 84, of Fenton, died Sunday, September 22, 2013. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2013 at the chapel at Machpelah Cemetery, Flint. Rabbi Yisroel Weingarten officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to Congregational Beth Israel or Genesee Humane Society. Bob was born March 14, 1929 in Flint, the son of Saul and Teenie (Schmolitz) Katz. He was a 1947 graduate of Flint Northern High School and then received a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University. He was a Chinese Interpreter for the U.S. Government during the Korean War. Bob was the founder and owner of Flint Hide Company. He was a life member of Congregational Beth Israel. He also was a member of the Flint Golf Club. Bob was a Mason, Shriner, and a big supporter of MSU athletics. Surviving are: 3 children, Jeff (Beth) Katz of Flint, Lee Katz of Flint, and Gaylyn (Mike) Close of Grand Blanc; Poppy's boat driver and granddaughter, Eryn; his children's mother, Toby Katz of Flint. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Bob's friend and physician Dr. Jagdish Bhagat and the caring staff at McLaren-Flint.
