Silvio Marchesi, age 88, of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2026.
Silvio was born on April 30, 1937, in Vestone, Brescia, Italy. He was seventh of 11 children born to Angela and Domenico Marchesi He came to the United States in 1951 and was drafted into the US Army in 1960. In 1964, he married Celeste Manfrin and went on to have four children. Silvio was a devout Catholic who was most proud of his family, his Italian heritage and running his own printing business. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing bocce ball, pinochle and soccer (in his younger days) as well as cheering for all Italian and local Detroit sports teams. Silvio was involved in many charitable events through the Knights of Columbus and veteran organizations. He will be remembered most for his easy going, happy go lucky and positive nature.
He is a proud Father, Papa, and Bisnonno. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Celeste, his children Sylvia Walton (the late Charles), Susan Willcock (Kevin), Robert Marchesi (Veronica), and Steven Marchesi (Roxann), his grandchildren Kyle Walton (Cristina Mata), Aaron Willcock (Ellen), Carina Willcock (Brad Tahash), Connor Willcock, Dante Marchesi, Gino Marchesi, Kristen Ewald (Ankush Bhandarkar), and Caitlin Ewald and great grandchild Leah Willcock. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1PM Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton. Visitation will be held from 12PM until the time of Mass. A luncheon will be held at the church hall immediately following Mass. Private burial will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to “Sacred Heart Veteran Village” through Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties.
