Stanley J. PARISH

PARISH, Stanley J. - Age 83, of Swartz Creek, died March 25, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, March 29 at the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and 10-11 AM at the church on Saturday. Interment Monday at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Those desiring may make contributions in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warrior Project. Stanley was born January 20, 1931 in Flint the son of Edward and Golden (Perry) Parish. He was married to Betty S. Cooper on April 19, 1952; she preceded him in death October 21, 2012. Stanley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Bennington. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Flint, then after retirement went to work for Greiner Engineering in Tampa, FL. He volunteered working with troubled youth over the years. Stanley battled heart disease for 35 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are: three daughters, Joni (David) Parish-Doane of Iowa, Karen Taylor of Swartz Creek, Lee Ann Parish of Swartz Creek; two grandsons, Erik Taylor (Nicole Lepus) and Daniel Taylor; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Gae Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Helen, Marilyn and Shirley; and brother, Chet. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
