Stephen Nicholas Johnson, age 57, formerly of Gaines, MI, passed away surrounded by family on March 29, 2024. He is survived by his son, Thomas (Caitlin); grandchildren, Ivy and Oliver, mother, Lorree D. Johnson; siblings, Cheryl Johnson, Wendy Madden, Joey (Amanda) Johnson, Nick Johnson, Amanda (Tom) DuBuc; stepmother Kathy Johnson; and nieces and nephews who adored him, Byron, Justin, Corey, Paige, Payton, Lily, Brody, Daisy, and Casey . He was preceded in death by his father, Joe N Johnson, and special grandfather, Bruce N. Cousins.
 
Steve was a master carpenter who took great pride in his work. He was known for his keen attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship. His quick wit, silly faces and humor were evident in all facets of his life especially when spending time with his nieces and nephews. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with friends on Shingle Lake, biking, kayaking, fishing and soaking in the beauty of his northern home in Lake George, MI.  Steve was also a music lover who appreciated a wide range of musical genres.
 
A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund in Stephen's memory at the link below. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
