Steven Michael Hauger

HAUGER, Steven Michael - Age 74, of Swartz Creek, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 21, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.

Steve graduated from Beecher High School in 1969, earned a degree in Business Data Processing at Baker College, and studied Computer Science at Michigan State University. There he met lifelong friends Ed Gourley and Larry Swift, who shared his love of electronics, music and Star Trek. They experienced many adventures over the years, including travels to Japan and all around the U.S.

Steve was employed as a bricklayer, a copy machine technician, and a computer programmer. He then worked for 25 years at the Flint City Wastewater Plant and retired in 2014, but he continued to work occasionally as a consultant.

In 1993 Steve built his home in Swartz Creek on the family farm. His good friend of 50 years, Rick Frase, lived nearby and along with Becky Frase and Ann Cole they traveled and spent countless hours enjoying each other’s company.

Steve was clever and meticulous, with a sharp wit. He was a very private person but was generous with his time and gifts, always striving to be helpful and useful. Steve never failed to attend a family function and never came empty handed. He liked to read, watch Westerns, do Sudoku puzzles, and ride motorcycles, bicycles, and E-bikes. He had an extensive library, a large music and movie collection, and was a huge fan of John Wayne.

Steve was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ervin and Grace Kolacheck, and brother, Alan Kolacheck. He is survived by sisters Kathryn Standal and Melanie Kolacheck, brother Joe Kolacheck, and nieces and nephews Robin Kolacheck, Sam (Amy) Brown, Hannah (Steven) Price, Robert Standall III, Adam (Cherie) Standal, Emma Kolacheck, Michael (Taylor) Standal and Darian (Ross) Williams.
