When reflecting on the life of Tedd Selby, it is easy to see that his life was rooted in faith and family above all. Tedd was a man of honor and integrity who lived with consistency and showed deep devotion to those he loved. His unwavering faith in Jesus was the foundation of everything he did.
Tedd met the love of his life, Wendy, in eighth grade, and from that moment forward, they rarely spent time apart. Through every season, Wendy was his greatest companion, his closest friend, and the person he loved most in this world. Together, they were intentional in building a family rooted in faith, love, and commitment.
He graduated from Hartland High School, where he was an outstanding student-athlete, earning All-State honors while serving as a two-year team captain and MVP. He went on to play football at Northwood University before transferring to the University of Michigan–Flint, where he earned a degree in Business Management.
Tedd worked as a top-performing Sales Manager for Alro Steel for 26 years, retiring in June 2025.
While proud of his work and dedicated to doing it well, his greatest joy was raising his three children with Wendy. A devoted husband and father, Tedd was always willing to drop everything to help his wife and children. He was an active part of their lives and spent countless years coaching them in various sports. His love for his family was nothing short of sacrificial.
Sitting still was not in his nature. He worked all day, came home and worked in the yard, coached his kids, and always put serving others above himself. He was often the first person called when someone in the family was in need, known for his steady presence and willingness to help.
One of Tedd's greatest gifts was encouragement. His children and their spouses never had to wonder how he felt about them. He regularly told them how much he loved them, how proud he was of them, and what wonderful parents they were or would become.
Tedd loved being outdoors, whether it was riding his motorcycle, taking country drives or nature walks with Wendy, giving his grandchildren tractor rides, or spending summers up north at the family cabin. He was also a loyal Michigan Wolverines fan who loved cheering on his favorite team.
He deeply loved his grandchildren and was incredibly proud of each one of them.
Tedd leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion—a family that loves the Lord and loves one another because of the example he set. His influence will continue through his children and grandchildren for generations to come.
Tedd remained strong and courageous until the very end, fully surrendered to the Lord and His plans, and at peace with His will. While his family and friends will miss him dearly, they rejoice in knowing he has been welcomed into the presence of his Savior and has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Tedd's family includes his wife, Wendy Selby of Fenton, MI; son, Hunter (Gabrielle) Selby of Pendleton, IN; son, Clay (Emma) Selby of Lansing, MI; daughter, Savannah (Vernon) Kakoma of Fenton, MI; and four grandchildren, Elowen, Malachi, Levi, and Theophilus, with two more grandchildren expected later this year; brothers, Rick Selby of Hartland, MI, and John (Brenda) Selby of Dunnellon, FL; sister, Roxanne (Tim) Edwards of Scotts Valley, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Selby.
