PULLUM, Teddy J. - Age 83, of Neguanee Township, formerly of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, in the comforting care of his family. A Memorial service for Teddy and his loving wife Joyce Elaine (Chaffee) Pullum will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Rev. Paul Ytterock will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Teddy was born February 8, 1931 in Bloomfield, Missouri, son of James and Ida Bell (Kimbrel) Pullum, Teddy graduated from Flint Northern High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and following his honorable discharge, returned to Flint. On October 9, 1954 he married the former Joyce Chaffee and together the couple moved to Swartz Creek where they raised their family. For over 47 years, Teddy was employed as an experimental model maker for AC Spark Plug, retiring in 1996. He was an avid aviation enthusiast and possessed an extensive library of information. His other hobbies and special interests included skydiving, NASCAR, model airplanes, woodworking, and being an avid reader. He was a member of POP "Parachutists Over Phorty" and the U.S. Parachutist Association. Joyce was born May 28, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, daughter of Donald G. Chaffee and Edith Lucille (Grinell) Chaffee. She passed away at the age of 78 on May 6, 2012. She worked as a Medical Secretary for Mott Children's Health Center and became the Supervisor of the Word Processing Center. Joyce had many hobbies that consisted of gardening, reading, traveling, with Panama Beach, FL being one of her favorites. Joyce also did endless volunteering at the homeless shelter; she also enjoyed sewing and put a lot of enthusiasm into it, doing it for others. She would sew blankets, scarves and pajamas for children and also sewed costumes for plays at the Whiting Auditorium in Flint. Joyce was devoted to her loving daughters and grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for her dog, Lindy. Surviving are: three daughters, Lisa K. Ellis of Wyandotte, and her children Aleigha, Annie, Emily, James (Holly) and their son, Oskar; Vicki L. Pullum of Swartz Creek; Carol (Mathias) Munger of Negaunee Township and their children, Chelsea and Jenna (Tyler) Ford. Joyce is also survived by her brother Willis (Shirley) Chaffee, brother Robert (Norma) Chaffee and sister Carol (James) O'Neill. Teddy was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, and his brother Bobby and wife, Charlotte, Pullum. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
