Theodore Demayer

October 24, 1925 — February 18, 2017

DEMAYER, Theodore "Ted" M.- Age 91, of Linden, formerly of Livonia, died February 18, 2017. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Tuesday February 21, at Sharp Funeral Home Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor Crystal Thomas officiating. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Brighton. Visitation will take place 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Linden United Methodist Church. Ted was born October 24, 1925 in Beveren Waas, Belgium, the son of Frank and Josephine DeMayer. Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He married Barbara Jean Sarginson in Linden on September 20, 2002. He received his bachelor of science degree in Engineering from Eastern Michigan University in 1972 after 26 years of study. Ted also earned a degree in Horticulture and Flora Culture from Michigan State University. He retired from Ford Motor Company as an engineer after eighteen years of service. After retirement he filled his days by building and meticulously maintaining his home and eight acres of land on McCaslin Lake. He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Kim Meyers, Brian DeMayer, Peggy DeMayer, Daniel DeMayer, and Bob DeMayer; step children, Kay (William) Axel and Kevin (Valerie) Kryder; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Frieda (Ed) Mott, Gabriel Baker, Julianna Stouffer; brother, Rene (Beryl) DeMeyer; sister in law, Mary Craig. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Mary Claire DeMayer. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
