Thomas Wayne ALLEN

ALLEN, Thomas Wayne, age 61, of Grand Blanc, formerly of Fenton, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Visitation will be Friday 4-9PM At the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to South Mundy United Methodist Church. Tom was born April 13, 1951 in Detroit the son of Thomas John and Wilma Maxine (Hoffman) Allen. He married Jo Ann Congdon on November 29, 1969 in Fenton. Tom graduated from Fenton High School in 1969. During his young adulthood he worked with his father at Allen Funeral Home and also operated Allen Ambulance Company in Fenton. Later in the years, Tom was a truck driving in various capacities. For pleasure Tom had many interests. He was a highly skilled hot air balloon instructor in Fenton, under the handle of "Captain Phatzz". He coached his boys in football, baseball and wrestling through Fenton Athletics. Tom was a talented musician with the ability to play many instruments, such as guitar, banjo and piano. He was a hunter and fisherman, who made annual Memorial Day fishing trips to Rice Lake in Canada. Tom was a great guy to be around. He loved his family, and they will all miss him dearly. Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Jo Ann; 2 sons, Cory (Gina) Allen of Wolverine, Cody Allen of Grand Blanc; 2 grandchildren, Chandler and Dalton Allen and their mother, Danielle Allen; 3 brothers, Rodney and Dale Allen of Fenton, Dean (Julie) Allen of Argentine; mother-in-law, Violet O'Brien of Fenton; brothers-in-law, Greg (Joy) Congdon of Petoskey, Jeff (Janet) Congdon of St. Louis, MO, Harland Congdon of Linden, Darrell (Lynn) Congdon of Swartz Creek; and he was blessed with many nieces, nephews and friends.
