KING, Thomas David -- known to his friends as "Tiny" - Age 54, of Fenton, died January 11, 2014 at Genesys Health Park. Services will be held 10 AM Saturday, February 1 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Tom was born November 24, 1959 in Martinez, CA. He was an enthusiast in all he did. His lifelong passion was driving - any kind of vehicle would do, including cars and trucks, ambulances, garbage trucks, police cars, ATV 's and even mini-stock race cars. Driving may also be the key to understanding Tom's apparently wide choice of careers - he has worked as an EMT, a mechanic, a garbage collector (driving the truck of course) security guard, police officer (for the Holly, Memphis, and Lennon Departments), courier, and taxi driver. His most recent career passion was to become a registered nurse - maybe the first time where no vehicle was involved. Tom had been taking classes at Mott Community College for the past 3 years. He was a huge NASCAR fan and lifelong Oakland Raiders Fan. His true joy was his many local friends and his family in California. He was a blast with kids and could get down on the floor with the smallest tykes. Tom lived in many places during his colorful life - growing up in California (Martinez, los Gatos, and Sonora, California, before setting out on a lifelong odyssey that took him to Los Angeles, Austin, Saline, MI, and finally to Holly and Fenton. Tom/Tiny was a colorful, larger than life character - he always followed his own path and passions, but he loved his friends like family. Tom loved his regular trips to visit his family in California and to attend Oakland Raider games. He is survived by his brother Bill and wife Dixie, and by his niece Elizabeth and nephew Jerott. He was preceded in death by his mother Mathilda (Tillie) Turner, and will be interred along with her at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor. Private celebrations of Tom's colorful life are encouraged - visit Tom's Facebook page (Tommy King) to share pictures, comments, goodbyes and reminiscences. He will be missed by us all.
