O'BRIEN, Thomas (Pat) Patrick - 84, died Sunday, March 2, 2014. Memorial mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Durand, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand with Fr. Jeffrey Poll celebrant, a luncheon will follow the mass. The family will recieve friend from 5-9 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until the time of mass Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221 or Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 900 Cooper St., Jackson, MI 49202. He was born on August 12, 1929 in Detroit, raised in Flint and retired to Bancroft MI.Thomas and his wife, Margaret (Peg) George O'Brien, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 13, 2014. Their union produced 8 children Thomas (Dorothy), Timothy (Anne), Kevin (Dolly) Michael, Margaret (Robert Allen), Maureen Wilson, Patricia Tremble, Nora (Robert Erickson), 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Lydia O'Brien as well as 2 brothers Carl and Michael. Surviving are his siblings Dennis (Karen), Anne Simpson and Lenora (Martin Draves). He was member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand MI, the Knights of Columbus, and Lions Club. He served his country in the Air Force and retired from GM.
