Thomas M. O'Brien

The life of Thomas Moore O'Brien, 77, ended June 25, 2013 in Flint, MI. Tom was born in Somerville, New Jersey to Howard O'Brien and Leotta Moore O'Brien both originally from Gaines, MI. He grew up in New Jersey and Richmond, IN and attended St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas where he met his wife, Gayle, and started a family. Tom had a long career with Fireman's Fund Insurance and that took he and his family to a few places around the United States including Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Sonoma County, California, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He retired early and enjoyed many years of sunshine and fishing and family. For the last 9 years, he enjoyed the company of his life partner, best friend and eventual caregiver, Georgia Sharlow. He loved to travel, a good bowl of soup, seafood, and us. We are grateful for the gift of his life and the blessings of the time we spent with him. He is preceded in death by his wife Gayle Wright O'Brien originally of Junction, TX, his parents, his uncles Everett and Rolland Moore and aunt Beotta Moore all originally of Gaines, MI. He is also preceded by his siblings Timothy, Michael, Patty Ann, and Danie. He is survived by his life partner, Georgia Sharlow of Swartz Creek, MI and his daughters Sharon Gould and her husband Gary Gould of Tulsa Okahoma, Barbara Vogel and her husband Ken Vogel of Kingwood, Texas, and Amy Ferris and husband Jeff Ferris of Flemington, NJ. He is also survived by his sisters Meg Raftis of NYC and Stonington, CT and JoAnn O'Brien of Montgomery Village, MD.
