Tina Marie Schollaert - “Auntie Momma”

March 20, 1957 — December 8, 2025

Clio

Tina Schollaert passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 8, 2025, at the age of 68, in her childhood home in Clio, Michigan. She was born on March 20, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to Sharon Marie Schollaert and Walter Andrew VanHoosier.

Tina grew up in Clio, Michigan, where she was lovingly raised by Kenneth Mills and his wife, Ruth Mills. She graduated from Clio High School in 1975. Her life included many chapters and many places. She briefly lived in Midland, Texas, before returning to Michigan in 1976, then moving to Florida in 1986, and later to Georgia in 2007. Tina made her way back home to Michigan in 2024. Through every move and every season, Tina had a way of turning wherever she was into a place where people felt cared for.

Tina spent her working life helping others through healing hands and a compassionate heart. After studying at the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy, she became a neuromuscular massage therapist and went on to own Latter Rain Therapeutic Massage—a calling that fit her so naturally, because caring for people wasn’t just what she did; it was who she was. Tina also pursued and received a real estate license, always determined to provide a steady life.

While living in Palmetto, Florida, Tina attended Palmetto Assembly of God, where her faith and servant’s heart were evident to everyone around her. She was involved in youth ministry, sang in the choir, and helped start a homeless street ministry.

For many years, she served as a rape crisis volunteer at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Her compassionate heart was always evident.

During her years in Georgia, Tina poured that same heart and work ethic into another dream—owning and operating the DragonFly Café in Young Harris. She saw the café as more than a business; it became a place where she could minister to the community.

Tina attended church at North Mt. Zion and continued to serve the Lord. She volunteered in the community as a Red Cross Disaster Relief volunteer and also felt a strong calling to serve at local food pantries.

Tina was a follower of Jesus Christ, and her faith wasn’t quiet or hidden. It was brave, steady, and unmistakable—a “walk-on-water” kind of faith that showed up in her words, her prayers, and the way she lived. “Live by Faith, Walk in Love” was a statement Tina embodied. It was who she was and what she did. She loved God deeply and carried an infectious hope that could lift a room and soften a hard day.

To her family and so many others, Tina was “Auntie Momma.” She had the rare gift of making people feel safe. She took people under her wing and loved them as her own, never making love feel conditional.

Tina was always helping and working with people. If she wasn’t supporting her family and friends, she was reaching out to strangers through random acts of kindness and healing hands—always looking for an opportunity to share her testimony and what the Lord had done in her life.

The truest story of Tina isn’t just where she lived or what she did for work; it was her love for the Lord and how she loved us all. Ultimately, Tina was the kind of person you don’t replace. She was a protector, a helper, a prayer warrior, a safe place, a steady voice, and a rock for so many of us. Her love created family wherever she went, and her faith gave others something to hold onto when life felt heavy. Though we grieve her deeply, we also give thanks, because being loved by Tina was a gift. The love she gave will keep living in the people she helped, the lives she changed, and the family she held so close.

So many of us can say the same thing: Tina helped raise us, shape us, and steady us. She carried more than her share, and she did it with love and faith. Tina was never married and never had children, yet she was loved by so many. As the oldest of eleven siblings, she was truly the matriarch of the family.

Tina is survived by her mother, Sharon Bush.
