Uldene Laurel FISH

FISH, ULDENE LAUREL Uldene passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Services will be 1:00PM, Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Sharp Funeral Home, 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint. Uldene's grandson, Pastor Adam Arnould will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, March 29, from 1-8pm, and one hour before services. Uldene was born in Flint, MI, on January 15, 1926, to William and Gladys (Lincoln) Beebe. She endured a very tough childhood, being deprived of many things, due to The Great Depression, and the loss of her mother, six weeks before Uldene's tenth birthday. She also had two older brothers, and three younger sisters, all born within a nine year span. Her father worked at any job he could find. At age 23, she married Curtis L. Fish, April 4, 1949, in Piggot, AR. They lived mostly in the Flint area, raising a son, and four daughters. Uldene was a kind and gentle woman, who truly enjoyed visiting with her whole family, as witnessed by the many family gatherings and reunions she attended. Everyone enjoyed all her great cooking, and the many delicious desserts she made. But, her PIES were the greatest. She perfected the art of making the pastry that was the basis for her superb fruit cobblers; cinnamon rolls; fried pies; and the many other kinds of pies she made. Most everyone agrees that her pastry was the best they ever ate. Unfortunately, Uldene had a stroke in 2004, which then required full care for her. This was given by her husband, Curtis, until his death January 7, 2008. Then, youngest daughter, Deanna, along with husband, Ken, and their four children: Lauren, Stephen, Alyson, and Katelynn, lovingly took over her everyday care. Uldene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Melvin and Fredrick; sisters Junia and Goldie; her grandson Richard Simpson; and her son-in-law (Deanna's husband) Ken Howerton. Uldene is survived by sister, Virgin Sheitler; son, Robert (Jean) Simpson; daughters: Deborah (Doug) Culhane; Denise Fish; Dawn (Jack) Arnould; and Deanna Howerton; 15 grandchildren; plus great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
