Verna Jean BILLS

BILLS, Verna Jean - Age 87, of Flushing, died October 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-5 PM Sunday, 1-3 & 6-8 PM Monday, and from 10 AM until the time of service Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to Carriage Town Ministries or Countryside Gospel Chapel. Jean was born December 9, 1925 in Hancock, MI, the daughter of Roy and Nellie Nelson. She was married to Edwin Bills on May 24, 1946 in Flint. Jean was an active member of Countryside Gospel Chapel, where she helped with mission work and Bible School. She was an accomplished organist that used her talents for the church. She volunteered at Moody Keswick Bible Conference Center for many years. Jean was an accomplished seamstress and managed Andrea's Fashion Fabrics. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are: husband, Edwin; children, David (Jane) Bills, Linda (Cary) Twardowski, Nancy (Randy) Leininger, Mark (Cindy) Bills, Rick (Cathy) Bills; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant grandson, Kevin Bills; brother, Dr. Ronald Nelson; infant great-granddaughter, Mara Leininger.
