Vernard Lee GRIGGS

GRIGGS, Vernard Lee - age 79, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at his residence. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 15, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Mr. Griggs was born September 10, 1934 in Flint, the son of Vernard Ladosca and Stella Aldena (Morey) Griggs. He married Janice Ann Devenport on August 14, 1954. Mr. Griggs retired from the U.S. Navy as an electrician in 1978. He then worked for Excel Corporation in Fenton. Surviving are: wife, Janice Griggs of Swartz Creek; four children, Patrick (Clara) Griggs of AL, Jeanette Griggs of Swartz Creek, Winona Griggs (Walt Cochran) of Grand Blanc, Shari (John) Folts of Davison; nine grandchildren, Steven Griggs, Sarah (Jace) Holley, Alex Houchlei, Kyle (Heather) Houchlei, Rachelle Palmateer, Rochelle (Scott) Crawford, Victoria Barrette, William Folts and Kayleigh Folts.
