Vincent F. BALASKO

BALASKO, Vincent F. - Age 88, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, August 24, 2013. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday August 28, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta celebrant. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint Tuesday from 1-8 PM and at church Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. A vigil service will be held at the funeral Home Tuesday at 7:00 PM, followed by a Knights of Columbus Memorial Service. A V.F.W. Memorial service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Holy Family Outreach Program or to a charity of your choice. Mr. Balasko was born April 7, 1925 in Flint, the son of Vincent and Cecilia (Vunovich) Balasko. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army, Surgical Tech Paratrooper. He married Sharon Lee Parr November 24, 1951 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Flint. He retired from GM Truck Plant after 36 years of service. Mr. Balasko was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #6742, Linden V.F.W. Price Crane Robinson's Post #4642, and U.A.W. Local 598. Surviving are: wife, Sharon; 3 children, Denise Balasko of Fenton, Vincent and wife Mary Balasko of Fenton, and Christopher Balasko of Grand Blanc; son-in-law, David Devoe of Grand Blanc; 4 granddaughters, Tyler Devoe of Grand Blanc, Barbie Jean Balasko of Fenton, Bridgette Balasko of Fenton, and Brystol Balasko of Auburn Hills; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marcia Balasko Devoe; 2 brothers, Steve and George Balasko; and sister, Irene Brown.
