Vira Garland

GARLAND, Vira M. - Age 82, of Grand Blanc, died October 2, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, October 10, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service. Vira was born September 29, 1932 in Bluff City, AR, the daughter of Dallas and Viola (Riley) Holliman. She was married to Wallace Garland on July 21, 1951; he preceded her in death on August 17, 1994. Mrs. Garland was an ordained minister, an accomplished tailor, an active volunteer at her children and grandchildren's schools and a member of the PTA. She was also a member of NAACP and Evergreen Valley Neighborhood Association. Surviving are her children, Ann Garland-Crumpton, Dean (Danon) Garland, Sheilah Garland-Olaniran, Gary W. Garland; beloved granddaughter, CeAnna B. Holden-Gragg; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and a sister.
