Viva Cole

COLE, Viva I. - Age 98, of Gaines, died October 20, 2014. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor Bill Owen will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12-8 PM Wednesday and from 12PM until the time of service Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of their choice. Viva was born July 13, 1916 in Harrison, the daughter of Miles and Blanche (Parmeter) Smalley. She was married to R.J. Cole on March 4, 1938 in Linden and had resided in the Gaines/Linden area since 1938. Mrs. Cole was a member of Michigan Farm Bureau and was an avid reader. Her favorite past time was rocking babies. Surviving are her children, Virginia (Jerry) Ebeling, Rosie (Marty) Kimble, Doris (Dale) Honke, Janet (Garry) Adams, Donna (Chuck) Kerridge, Raymond (Darlene) Cole, Fredrick (Linda) Cole, Brice (Constance) Cole; daughter-in-law, Georgia Cole; 35 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; brother, Oral Smalley. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Cole; daughter, Muriel; son, William; three brothers and four sisters; great-granddaughter, Dallas Smith.
