Vivian Hamilton

September 4, 1938 — May 9, 2025

Vivian C. Hamilton, 86, of Titusville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Edward Poe Care Center in Titusville.

Born in Flint, Michigan, to the late Charles Carroll Goodwin and Annie Vivian Goodwin (née Tupper), Vivian lived her first 63 years in Michigan before relocating to Titusville in 2001. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1956 and went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Michigan State University. A passionate educator, Vivian dedicated her career to teaching and retired from Linden Community Schools (MI) in 2000.

Vivian's life was marked by community service and a deep love of the arts. She was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fenton, MI where she served faithfully as both elder and deacon, and also a past member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville. A talented vocalist, she was a member of many church choirs and the Fenton Lakes Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. Her love of performance extended to the stage, where she was an active member of the Fenton Village Players for many years.

Always giving of her time, Vivian volunteered with the American Red Cross and Parrish Medical Center Auxiliary, serving as a shuttle driver and past chairperson from 2003 to 2023.

Vivian lived life with zest and curiosity. She was an avid NASCAR fan who loved speed and adventure. She delighted in music, especially playing the piano, and was always up for a good game—whether it was Bunko, Bridge, or Euchre. She loved cooking, entertaining, attending plays, and sharing laughter with friends and family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frederic Norman Hammer of Titusville, FL; her son Kevin John Hamilton Sr. (Denise Jackson) of Omaha, NE, and granddaughter Erin Elizabeth Strauss (Richard), and great-grandchildren Alaina Strauss and Evan Strauss; and grandson Kevin John Hamilton Jr. (Christina), and great-grandchild Lane Hamilton; and her daughter Heather Carol Hamilton Clement of Key West, FL, and grandson Bradley Kenneth Long, and great-grandchildren Bella Long, and Luna Oliva Long; and grandson Orris John Long (Alison), and great-grandchildren Scarlett Long, Gabriel Long; and her stepdaughter Sandra Lynn Hammer (James McCammon) of Brighton, MI; and granddaughter Angela Marie Hanners; and her cherished friend of 46 years, Lori Murray of Fenton, MI.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Anthony Hamilton; her parents Charles Carroll Goodwin and Annie Vivan Goodwin nee Tupper; her sister, Marion Pettis Goodwin Harris; her granddaughter, Cari Ann Hamilton; and her stepdaughter, Martha Marie Hammer.

Vivian’s warmth, joy, and generosity of spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
