Volen Striler

STRILER, Volen L. - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, December 29, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Reverend Flora Ash. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 10AM until time of service Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Pheasants Forever of Michigan or Genesee County DNR. Volen was born in Flint, on April 26, 1939 the son of the late Clyde Orville and Jewel Belle (Kirkwood) Striler. He retired from General Motors, Chevy in the hole, with 36 years of service. Volen enjoyed wood carving, hunting, working on cars, going to car shows and collecting DNR patches. Surviving are: daughter, Elaine Striler of Laingsburg; sister, Violet (Bob) Stilson of VA; brothers, Orville (Ruth) Striler of Swartz Creek; twin brothers, Don Kirkwood of Fenton and Dave Kirkwood S.C. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Volen was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne Striler; brothers, Glen and Clyde "BO" Striler; wife, Caroline Seibel-Striler.
