Walter "Walt" H. Brooks, Sr.

BROOKS, Walter H., Sr ."Walt"- age 75, of Swartz Creek, passed away June 15, 2026. Funeral Service 12:30 PM Friday, June 19, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Dana Belland officiating. Visitation 9:30 AM Friday until the time of service at 12:30 PM. Private family interment at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Memorial contributions in Walt's memory would be appreciated to the wishes of his family. Per Walt's wishes please dress in blue jeans, tee shirts and wear a stocking hat or baseball cap while attending his service.

Walt was born February 23, 1951, in Owosso, the son of Hubert and Betty Jane (Sturgis) Brooks. He married Catherine A.Grifka at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove, MI on March 25, 1972. Walt was employed as a Mill Man for many years at Lennon Elevator. He later retired from Henderson Elevator. Walt loved caring for and mowing his yard. He also loved his cat, Abby. Walt enjoyed word searches games and was known as the family "jokester!"

Walt is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughter, Deana (Mark) Brooks; grandchildren, Amanda (Anthony) Hollenback, Katelyn (Chelsea) Brooks, Logan (Debbie) Brooks, and Carson (Becca) Domby; great grandchildren, Skylar, Paisleigh, Kylie, and Levi.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Betty Jane Brooks; his son, Wally Brooks; his sister, Bonnie Sergent; his mother and father-in-law, Jeanette and Albert Grifka, and his favorite dog, Festus. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
