WARD, Warren Eugene "Gene", age 79, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be 1:00PM Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Bristol United Methodist Church, 5285 VanSlyke Rd., Flint. Rev. Marvin Herman officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday 12-1PM at the church. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday 5-7PM and Monday 1-3PM and 5-7PM at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Memorial contributions may be made to Bristol United Methodist Church. Gene was born April 7, 1933 in Breckenridge, MI the son of the late Dale Wesley and Leona Isabelle (Mecomber) Ward. He married Erma Lois Taylor in Swartz Creek on August 20, 1955. Gene served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed in the construction industry until his retirement in 1988. Gene took pride in his work, every detail covered and each measurement checked for accuracy. After retirement Gene continued to take on construction projects and enjoyed them as well. In his leisure, he also enjoyed reading. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Erma; 4 children, Diane McConnell (Rick) of Prudenville, Kymm Carlin (Todd) of Schoolcraft, Lynette Ward of Lansing, Leigh Suthard (Tim) of Flagler Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; brother, David Ward (Marilyn); sister, Sharon Stevenson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
