Wayne Smith

SMITH, Wayne Ronald – age 74 of Highland, died Sunday, November 27, 2022. Wayne was born September 18, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie to Virgil and Aurelia (Plankey) Smith. Wayne grew up in Moran with his family. He was a 1966 graduate of Rudyard High School and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Oakland Community College. He worked for the City of Farmington Hills Department of Public Works for 28 years. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and most of all golfing with his son, Stacey; grandson, Charlie; and cousin, Steve Moore. Wayne is survived by son, Jeff (Amy) Smith of Commerce Twp, son, Stacey (Katie) Smith of Linden; grandchildren, Ryan Smith of South Korea, Sam, Cooper and Charlie Smith of Linden, Ashlyn, Justin and Jake Smith of Commerce Twp. He is survived by his brothers, Dale (Dalene) Smith, Terry (Dianna) Smith; sisters, Cindy Rogers, Pam Magee; nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew and one niece. Cremation services provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
