BARBERA, William "Larry"- Age 75, of Flushing, died April 28, 2017. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Thursday May 4 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will take place 2-8 PM Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Michigan Cancer Foundation or the Humane Society. Larry was born July 4, 1941, the son of William and Vera (Turner) Barbera. He was a graduate of Flushing High School. Larry married Patricia Ann Balch in Flint on August 7, 1977. He retired from GM after 40 years of service. Larry was a hot rod enthusiast and would drag race with his grand sport. Larry and Pat bought a 1948 Austin Dorset called the Warlock and then built one from the ground up. They traveled out of state for car shows winning some trophies and making a magazine. He loved spending time with his family and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Lori (Bob) Tambling; granddaughters, Ashley (Michael Tolley) Tambling and Morgan (Jason Kauffman) Tambling; great-grand sons, Kraigen and Quillen; brother, Donald (Lynn) Barbera; sisters-in-law, Shirley Barbera and Sue Bosley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his cat, Molly. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phillip Jerry Barbera; great grandson, Carter Jayce Tambling. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mendoza, McLaren Hospice, the staff at Lapeer Medical Care Facility "Suncrest," and the nurses at McLaren on the 11th and 12th floor.
