William Martin Long

William Martin Long of Durand, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on July 23, 2025. He was 77 years old.

A lifelong resident of Genesee County, he was born in Flint on March 1, 1948, to William M. and Christine (Gean) Long. William worked as a die maker at General Motors retiring after 42 years of service. He loved being outside working in his yard, mowing, taking care of his trees in his own personal sanctuary. He loved music and playing his Martin guitar. Most of all and most importantly he adored his grandchildren and spending as much time as possible with them.

William is survived by his wife Debra (DeMoines) Long; one son Eric Long and wife Tammy Rohner; three daughters Tiffany Viall and husband Sig Viall, Desiree Long, and Ashley Tia Sailor and husband Matthew Sailor; five grandchildren; Elizabeth and Raymond Snyder, Collin Vavro and Hailey and Emmett Sailor; his siblings Donna Scyphers and husband Tom, Linda Boyle, Cliff Long and wife Carol, Alice Coffell and husband Jim, Martha Spencer and husband Marc, Theo Long and Myron Long; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Melissa Willis.
