February 19, 1941 — March 3, 2026

Lapeer

Wilma Jean Schopieray, 85, of Lapeer, peacefully passed away after a brief illness on March 3, 2026.

Born February 19, 1941, in Somerville, Tennessee, Jean (daughter of the late William H. Collins and Edna Cunningham) was cherished by family and friends. For many years, she loved her work as a school bus driver for Grand Blanc Community Schools, where she brightened the days of countless children.

Jean and her husband, David, were married for 66 loving years. In retirement, they traveled the country with their beloved dog, Cricket, and shared a passion for attending flat track motorcycle races coast to coast. Jean was a loyal friend who stayed close to childhood companions while welcoming many new friends after moving to Lapeer.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Don (Lynn), Gordon, and Bethany (Michael); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two siblings; and David’s sister. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, David, and four siblings, including her twin sister Jane.

Cremation has taken place; no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes — Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd.

Tributes and memories may be shared at sharpfuneralhomes.com.
