Zoanne Saab

SAAB, Zoanne (Allen) - Age 73, of Fenton, passed away December 27, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, G-9020 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Fr. Don Davidson will officiate. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday and 1-3 & 5-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10 AM until the time of service Friday at the church. Zoanne was born March 17, 1943 in Flint, the daughter of Darwin and Ruth (Carmer) Allen. She attended Flint Central High School, became a Registered Nurse, earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from U of M Flint, and a Masters Degree in Social Work from U of M Ann Arbor. Zoanne worked as a Registered Nurse at Hurley and McLaren, but most of her nursing career was spent at Flint Osteopathic Hospital working in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Room. She served as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Consortium on Child Abuse and Neglect for Genesee County, was the Director of the Victim Advocacy Program for the City of Flint, and provided counseling for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault at the YWCA Safe House of Greater Flint, and worked as a therapist in private practice for many years. Zoanne was a devoted pianist, was the organist at Christ Episcopal Church on Hamilton St. in Flint, was a fierce reader, an avid gardener, enjoyed tennis, and spent her life cultivating friendships. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. Saab-O'Donnell and husband Michael; grandchildren, Caitlin, Cullen and Aubrey; brother, Darwin Eugene Allen; nephew, Christopher Allen; niece, Heather Allen Bennish; great-nieces, Marlo and Morgan Bennish. Zoanne will always be remembered as "Aunt Z" by Bassam, Tammam, and Rima Abu Shakra; Lis, Mark, and Ghassan Saab; Samer, Hanni, and Mazzen Saab.
