Ann Elizabeth Sackrider of Port Huron, Michigan, formerly of Fenton, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her family home on October 12, 2021.
Ann was born February 27, 1965, in Flint, Michigan to Thomas and Margaret (Moore) Sackrider. She was a proud Lake Fenton graduate of the Class of 1983. Ann earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in 1989 from the University of Michigan-Flint and a Master’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 2004. She was a dedicated teacher for 22 years at Port Huron Area School District where she taught math, social studies, and served as an Intervention Specialist. Working at Central Middle School, she coached volleyball and served as a representative of the Education Association. Ann loved her school community and spent countless hours preparing lessons, assisting fellow teachers, and tutoring students.
Ann enjoyed spending time up north and especially loved being near the water. She loved exploring lighthouses and learning about Michigan history. Ann made crafts and had a special talent for cross-stitch. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making traditional dishes for family gatherings. Her love extended to her two cats, Patches and Tazzy, which brought her great comfort near the end of her life.
Ann is survived by her mother, Margaret Sackrider; Brothers: Jeffrey Sackrider, and Michael (Christine) Sackrider; Nephews and Niece: David, Daniel, Logan and Kailee Sackrider. Ann was preceded in death by her father, Thomas (Chuck) Sackrider, and sister-in-law, Stephanie Sackrider.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, October 17th from 2-8 PM; and October 18th from 10 AM until the time of service at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. A funeral service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held on October 18th at 11 AM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel.
