Houston, Bennie Louis - Age 68, of Burton, died January 4, 2020. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Saturday, January 18 at Riverside Tabernacle Church 429 Chavez Dr. Flint, MI. Those desiring may make contributions to the Bennie Houston Memorial Fund c/o Sharp Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Flint, and from 11 AM Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Bennie was born February 17, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Bennie and Velma (Jackson) Houston. He attended Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur and graduated in 1971. He met Muriel Gainer in Springfield, MO. Where it was love at first sight. They later attended Fahlo Deaf Camp where they both prayed for a sign from God if they were to be married. That year they were crowned King and Queen. On June 16, 1973 at Riverside Tabernacle Church, the two became one. Bennie loved to share the love of the Lord with everyone he'd meet. Bennie loved music and would often be seen and heard blasting his music as he rode down the street. He was a practical jokester and loved to make people laugh, best known for his stories, skits, and most of all his impression of "The Bell'. He was a member of Faith Assembly Deaf Church in Pontiac. Bennie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 48 years Muriel; 2 daughters, Rachel Houston (Arthur), Sarah Houston (Nathan); 8 grandchildren, Benjamin Houston (Kathy), TanjaNaya Houston, C'Erra Houston, Destiny Flowers (Terry), Thomas Parker, Jazmyn Leak, E'Lexxus Houston, Jaycob Leak; 2 great-grandchildren on the way; siblings, Felicia Collins (Johnell), Nathaniel Houston, Carmen Houston, Kevin Houston (Norma); Special nephew Nate Houston; Special God daughters, Shawnette Hurst and Domanic Grubbs; and a host of nieces and nephews; and cousins.
