Carolyn Murphy

MURPHY, Carolyn Sue - age 71, of Fenton, died unexpectedly on March 31, 2020. What started as a simple bacterial infection ended up revealing cancer. Everything moved quickly and the severity of her condition escalated even faster. Carolyn was born May 7, 1948 in Flint, the daughter of Ward Lyman and Betty (Emerick) Bernethy. She originally lived in Flint and was a 1966 graduate from Kearsley High School. Carolyn lived in Genesee County all of her life and retired from the Delphi Corporation. She loved to scrapbook, decorate, and spend time with family and friends; her attention to detail was evident in everything she did. She leaves many of us with an unimaginable void due to her fierce commitment to family and friends; you could call on her for anything. Carolyn leaves behind her son, Ryan McFarlane and wife, Shelly of Fenton; grandchildren Mason McFarlane, Julia McFarlane, and Lena McFarlane; siblings Darlene Manuel(Denny), Charlotte Raymond; nieces Tracy Kaye(Patrick), MaryLynn Baldwin (Brad), Annette Parenteau (Michael); nephews Trent & Todd Herman; great nieces Ashley Kaye, Addison Kaye, Brooke Baldwin and great nephew Andrew Baldwin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward Lyman and Betty (Emerick) Bernethy; grandparents Fern Emmonds, and Galen & Iva Emerick. Arrangements are entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd. however, due to the current National Emergency, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
