(Hunter) Keely. She graduated from Flint Northern High School in June 1942. She married Manford “Mac” McClanahan on June 15, 1944, in Sarasota, Florida. Dorothy spent the first 16 years of her married life traveling with her military husband and children to many US Air Force bases. During that period, she moved over 15 times and resided in multiple states east of the Mississippi River, with the exception of one stint in Texas. After returning to Flint, Dorothy worked for a time at the Dixie Motor and Owosso Speedways where she managed concession stands. She then worked as the part-time housekeeper for St. John Vianney Church, and retired in 2016 after 44 years of service. Although she didn’t have much leisure time while raising nine children, Dorothy was an avid journal-keeper and enjoyed long and frequent visits with family and friends. She was a member of the Goldstar Air Force Wives Club, served on several parish committees at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flint, and served on the Flint Northern Alumni Association Board. Dorothy is survived by her children Janet Foster of Burton, Barbara (Tom) Camarro of Fairfield, Connecticut, Chris McClanahan of Burton, Shawn (Penny) McClanahan of Grass Lake, Renee (Joseph) Abraham of Fenton, JoAnn McClanahan of Flint, Bryce (DiAnna) McClanahan of Oscoda, and Dr. Connie McClanahan of Flint, and her daughter-in-law Bobbie McClanahan of Birch Run. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings Viola “Peachie” Witter, Jerry Keely, and Beverly Feckovic, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Viola, husband Manford, son Bard, grandson Eric McClanahan, sisters Marjorie Keely, Marian Wills, and Lila Moss, and brothers, Jack, Robert, Wallace, William, and Darold Keely.
