STONE, Dr. Velma Lee - Age 88, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, September 25, 2021.  Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (A live stream of the service will be available on Dr. Stone's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday October 9, 2021 from 10 AM until the time of the service. Dr. Stone was born May 28, 1933 in Kernersville, NC, the daughter of Byron and Laura Calear (Richardson) Vanderberg.  She received a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic.  She had resided in Grand Blanc for the past 30 years coming from Flushing.  She owned and operated Velma Stone Chiropractic in Fenton for 20 years, retiring in 2003.  She was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Flint and the Zonta Club of Flint.

Velma was easy to love. She was quick-witted, an incredible cook, and proud of her southern roots. She loved watching sports and playing the lottery. She was extremely proud of her family and loved spending quality time with them. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light in her life. She felt lucky to have such a large family; and we were blessed to call her ours.

Surviving are: her children, Dr. Douglas (Judy) Stone of Fenton, Patricia McMillen of Rochester, Lee Ann (Dr. James) White of Fenton, Bradley Stone of Grand Blanc, Gordon Stone of Hickory, NC, and Dr. Brian Stone of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Jill (Justin) Baker, Aaron (Katie) Stone, Adam Stone, Lauren (Steve) Schornak, Dustin (Elizabeth) McMillen, Brett McMillen, Jonathan White, and Jessica (Mark) Akins; great grandchildren, Evely, Jett, Emery, Greyson, Nora, Elise, Claire,and Faye; sister, Rose Marie Stone of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mavoline Hayes, Wayne Vanderburg, Jeannie Hart, Shirley Davis, and Donald Vanderberg.  The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Oaks at Woodfield.  Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
