COLLINS, Fred Richard - age 87, of Linden, died January 9, 2020. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Tuesday, January 14. 2020 at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy St., Fenton with Pastor Jeff Jaggers officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held 11:30 AM -12:30 PM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Honor Flight Network (www.honorflight.org) -- a non-profit organization transporting American veterans to Washington DC to visit memorials dedicated to those who have sacrificed for our country; or His House Christian Fellowship (www.hhcf.org) --a ministry that reaches out to colleges and universities with the story of Jesus.Fred was born November 13, 1932 in Jacksonville, OH, the son of John and Dorothy (Mayles) Collins. He married Carolyn L. Heffken on November 28, 1956 in Cleveland, OH and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2016. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1993 after 31 years.  Surviving are: daughters, Cheryl and husband John Sowash of Williamsburg and Carol and husband Greg Williamson of Livonia; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brother, Ed (Dorothy) Collins. He was also preceded in death by: his siblings, Robert Collins, Karen Barnes, John Butsko and Judy Bergman. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton 48430.
