Garrison Johnson

June 4, 1934 — March 7, 2020

JOHNSON, Garrison Waldo (Garry) - Beloved father and grandfather, age 85, of Flint passed away peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Berean Baptist Church, 6705 Rustic Ridge Trail, Grand Blanc.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Baptist Church Library Fund.

Garrison was born June 4, 1934 in Flint, the son of Oscar W. and Zena M. (Smith) Johnson. He first married Esther Collins at Berean Baptist Church, January 1, 1954 and upon her passing he later married Jennie Mae Terry August  14, 1999 also at Berean Baptist Church. Garrison graduated from Flint Central H.S.. He was employed as a Tool and Die maker and Gauge Inspector with AC/Delphi for over 45 years. He was a long time member (over 65 years) of Berean Baptist Church. He served on the Flint Christian School Board. Garrison and Esther developed the current Berean Baptist Church Library. He built the church organ and served as organist, choir director, and Deacon. Garrison enjoyed music, working with computers, and was very involved with WMPC Christian Radio.

He is survived by: children, Mark Johnson of Livonia, Stephen Johnson and Matthew Johnson both of Flint, and Linda (Bradley) Lokken of Flushing; grandchildren, Brandon Lokken of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Connor Johnson of Hartland; sister, Beverly Johnson of Flint; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Rhonda and the staff at Swank Home Assisted Living along with the Care Team Hospice and especially Pete, for their love and support.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Zena; spouses, Esther and Jennie Mae; brother, Stanley Johnson. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
