Harry GRAMER

December 17, 1918 — March 23, 2012

GRAMER, Harry Edward, age 93, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed on surrounded by his family on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Flint's Avalon Hospice facility. A Funeral service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 1:00PM Tuesday, March 27 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00 PM until time of service. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Honorary donations in his name can be made to the Genesee County Humane Society. Harry was a four-sport varsity athlete at Swartz Creek High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He matriculated at the University of Chicago in Labor Law, and found great joy in travel, casinos, and singing with the Carmen-Ainsworth Choralayres and the Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus, performing gospel, show tunes and the music of Elvis. He worked at Hamady Brothers' grocery stores for over 20 years, and also served as Counsel and Business Agent for the United Food and Commercial Worker's Union, Local 539, for over 25 years. He was one of thirteen children of Frank E. and Clara M. (Geher) Gramer of Lapeer. Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy (Crull) Gramer, and children, Sondra (Gary) Horwath, Shari (Larry) Burdt, William Dennis Gramer, Gary (Lori) Gramer, and Shelley (Mark) Ryan. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
