Jo Ward

Ward, Jo A. (Myers), of Swartz Creek, passed away January 27, 2023. A celebration of life memorial will be held 12-6 PM Saturday May 6 at Hemlock Merrill VFW Post 7302, 17595 Gratiot Road, Hemlock, MI. Jo was born to Jack Alden and Mary Elizabeth (Uptegraft) Myers on November 12, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. Jo is the oldest of four, but she always said, youngest! She graduated from Merrill High School, Delta College and Saginaw Valley State College. Shortly after high school, during the Vietnam War, she married the love of her life, Thomas Ward. He was her rock and constant support. After getting a bit established, seven years later, they had their precious daughter, Amanda Jo. She brought joy into their life and was a True Blessing. Finishing her degree after the birth of Amanda, Jo needed to work. During her career, she loved assisting families and students at Grand Blanc School, Jordan College, Mott College and originally at the State of Michigan DSS. Also, between educational positions, she sold M&M Mars Confectionary products and lastly worked as a Realtor selling real estate until it affected Tom's retirement. Next, Jo welcomed the roles of retired wife and Grandma to her grandchildren! Jo leaves behind, her precious husband, Thomas and precious daughter, Amanda Jo Smith (James Bradley), grandson, Nathan Douglas Smith and granddaughter, Abigale Mary Smith. Also remaining, brothers, Robert (Jan) Myers, Jack William (Kathy) Myers; sister, Mary Jo Davis and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; along with cousins and extended families of Tails A Wagon, KOA St. Petersburg, and pickleball throughout Florida and Michigan; many family and friends have preceded Jo. Thank you all for the adventures!
